and Guest FAQ

This is the most important page of information about the Celtic Inn and what I offer. If you have any questions, please ask right away.

By confirming a reservation, you agree to all terms and policies.

So you know, the Celtic Inn, An Irish Bed & Breakfast, is a casual B&B with Irish/Victorian flair...the Inn is a modest Queen Anne Victorian structure, built in 1890. The Inn is decorated simply, with clean lines, and vibrant colors; Irish touches abound, and Victorian opulence does not.

    Guest FAQ

Note: These are common questions from guests who have stayed with us at the Celtic Inn; answers may not apply to all B&Bs. Thank you.

Q: I've never stayed at a B&B before...what do I do?

A: You have fun! A bed and breakfast is similar to a hotel, but much more unique, charming, and comfortable. You will be welcomed into my home, where you'll have a bedroom for lounging and sleeping, a private or shared restroom, and a Great Room for relaxing and socializing with other guests (optional). No two B&Bs are alike, so be flexible and open to new experiences. My Inn is casual, yet you will have the same amenities as, or more than, those you'll find at a chain hotel. You'll have better and more personal service than at a chain hotel. Breakfast is complimentary, high-end, and fresh. Above all, communicate with me. If there is anything you need, simply ask.

Q: Do you live at the Inn?

A: Yes, my daughter and I live on the first floor. All guest rooms are on the second floor. Guests are expected to respect our private spaces.

Q: Are you ADA compliant? Do you have an elevator?

A: Yes, we follow all requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 as it pertains to small lodging properties. Please note, all guest rooms are on the second floor, and there is no elevator. Therefore, all guests and visitors must be able to manage a full flight of stairs. All toilets are comfort height ('high rise') for easy on and off.

Q: Are you Deaf-Friendly?

A: Yes, we are deaf-friendly! Dee, the innkeeper, is a professional nationally-certified American Sign Language / English interpreter, and will communicate with D/deaf and hard of hearing guests and visitors completely barrier-free. Smoke alarms have flashing lights. Bring your own portable TTY/pager device and travel alarm, as needed.

Q: How do I make a reservation?

A: You may make a reservation through my online reservation system, by phone, or by email (click "Reservations" above). Your name, address, phone number(s), and valid credit card information (type, number, expiry, vcode) is required to hold your room. Four–plus nights requires a 50% deposit. For last minute reservations, charges may be run at the time you make your reservation. A confirmation email will be sent whenever possible.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: My livelihood depends on you, the guest, honoring your reservation once it is confirmed. We are not a chain hotel with hundreds of rooms to off-set no-shows or cancellations. Once we confirm your reservation, we hold your room in good faith, and we never overbook. One room night lost is 25% of my income lost; no-shows and cancellations are financially crippling to me. Therefore, more than two weeks notice are required for cancellations, less a $50 handling fee per room for any cancellation. Fourteen days, or fewer, notice of cancellation will incur full room charges, with a gift certificate in exchange for a future stay. This is firm. Four–plus nights requires one night's lodging fee as a deposit. For extended stays, 50% down may be required. For last minute reservations, charges may be run at the time you make your reservation. A confirmation email will be sent whenever possible.

Q: Are you business friendly?

A: Yes, we offer free High Speed Wireless Internet access throughout the Inn. Copy service is available (10 cents/page). Laundry services are also available ($2/load for wash, dry, fold/hang). For early departures, a "goodie bag" is available for take away breakfast. We honor State Per Diem for State/Federal employees (conditions apply).

Q: Do you accept children?

A: Yes, we are kid-friendly, and as a guideline, well-raised children age five and above are welcome. While we are kid-friendly, the Inn should not be considered "child-proof" so parents must monitor their children diligently. I'm sorry, babysitting services are not available.

Q: Do you allow pets? Service animals?

A: Yes, pets are welcome, but on a case-by-case basis only (please inquire). Size and nature of the pet, and allergies of other guests, will be considered first. Pet policy must be agreed to and on file, and a $15/day/animal fee applies. Bring a copy of current shots and immunizations. Service animals are welcome any time, with the same considerations (bring proof of service training).

Q: What do you serve for breakfast? What time is breakfast served?

A: Saturdays and Sundays, I serve a Deluxe Continental Breakfast-in-a-Basket, personally delivered to your door at a time convenient for you (generally between 7:30am and 9:00am). Weekday mornings, since I depart early for work, I may place your breakfast in the refrigerator upstairs (Hospitality Room) for you to enjoy at your leisure. This includes seasonal fresh, organic fruit, homemade scones or muffins (flavors vary), organic yogurt or applesauce, premium orange juice, Fair Trade coffee and tea, and hot cocoa. Groups may be served family style in the Great Room. Please advise of any allergies or special dietary requests at the time of your reservation.

Q: Why do you serve Breakfast-in-a-Basket? Why not a "hot" breakfast?

A: Simply, Breakfast-in-a-Basket is what I can manage by myself. I am an Innkeeping team of one, and given the demands of setting a table, cooking and serving a sit down meal, conversing with guests, all in addition to my daughter's needs, and the needs of other guests, Breakfast-in-a-Basket is the best option. If you prefer a hot breakfast shared with other guests, please ask Dee for recommendations of other B&Bs in the area.

Q: Do you allow alcohol?

A: Yes. All guests of legal drinking age may request alcohol in advance or bring their own alcohol. For special occasions, by request, I will arrange your choice of wine/champagne, an ice bucket, glassware, and a corkscrew ready for you in your room. Charges will be added to your room bill. This is a wonderful touch for anniversaries, weddings, birthdays, or any special event in your life. Just ask.

Q: Do you allow smoking?

A: I'm sorry, no. For the health and safety of my family and guests, and to reduce odor, damages, and clean up issues, the entire Inn and the property are entirely smoke- and drug-free. Generally, we rent to non-smokers only. If you smoke, you are welcome to smoke away from the Inn or in your vehicle.

Q: Do you have parking?

A: Yes, for free, we offer off-street parking at the rear of the Inn (first come, first served). For motorcycles, bring a kickstand disk, as the parking lot is gravel. Street parking is open; guest are responsible for following posted restrictions. Please enter through the front door at all times.
